PERICLES (kind of) is a rapid un-telling? re-telling? mis-telling? of Shakespeare’s stormy story. Traditionally, Pericles follows a wandering prince who flees an incestuous king. Survives storms and shipwrecks. Escapes assassins. Wins deadly jousts! Falls in and out of love several times. Endures another storm. Is bested by Pirates. All ending in a brothel? A tale of true virtue!Through centuries of adaptations this story has changed surprisingly little... for Pericles.
