The exhibition focuses on the epistolary relationship that Patricia Esquivias has established over the years with characters linked to her works. These writings, based on collected or intuited stories, with open questions that often do not seek answers, constitute the starting point for the selection of works that shape the exhibition. The exhibition includes works produced throughout her career, some shown for the first time and others that had not previously been exhibited together. The project is developed in collaboration with Caniche Editorial, which not only publishes the book containing the complete compilation of the letters, but also takes on the conceptualisation of the exhibition. Patricia Esquivias (Caracas, Venezuela, 1979) develops a practice centred on the analysis of social narratives and the symbolic codes that sustain them. Through video, drawing, photography and installation, she recovers silenced histories and proposes new forms of narration. Her work has been presented in institutions such as CA2M, MARCO, Reina Sofía, the Hammer Museum and White Columns. Caniche Editorial is an independent publishing house focused on hybrid projects between art and publishing. Its catalogue brings together books that move between artist’s publications, visual thinking and the critical documentation of contemporary practices.
