This summer, during WorldPride 2026, Queer Amsterdam, the pink city, opens (Thursday, July 9, 2026, to Sunday, April 4, 2027). A major exhibition about the eventful and unique history of the Amsterdam LGBTQIA+ community. A cultural-historical story of love, exclusion, courage, struggle, and freedom, told in a place that was once the scene of church doctrine and exclusion. Four important moments The exhibition marks several important moments. It has been 25 years since civil marriage was opened up to everyone. Amsterdam played a pioneering role worldwide at that time. Celebration of the 30th anniversary of Pride Amsterdam, and the fact that the COC was founded 80 years ago. Reflect on acquired freedoms The exhibition prompts you to reflect on hard-won freedoms. These freedoms remain fragile. A part of the community still experiences discrimination and violence today. This exhibition makes the impact of these developments on you visible.
